GP TRAINING
Welcome to the General Practice Vocational Training Scheme for GP Specialist postgraduate doctors at Medway.
Welcome to GP Training at Medway
The Medway General Practice Vocational Training Scheme is a three year programme, combining hospital and General Practice experience that finishes with a year in General Practice.
Your Educational Supervisor for Specialty Training is a GP Trainer who you will be in touch with throughout the three years and he or she will facilitate your development as a GP.
The hospital jobs in your ST1 and ST2 years will be designed to give you experience in the areas useful for General Practice such as:
-
ENT
-
Psychiatry
-
Palliative Care
-
Sexual Health
-
Paediatrics
-
Geriatric Medicine
-
Obstetrics & Gynaecology
-
Emergency Medicine
Teaching takes place in the Education Centre at Medway Maritime Hospital on Wednesday afternoons.
The programme directors have a faculty office on site, and also a scheme administrator available to assist postgraduate doctors with queries.

ST3 Teaching
ST3 teaching takes place on the Chatham campus of the Canterbury Christ Church University.
This enables the full use of the University’s facilities for the half day release. There are also joint sessions between ST1, 2 and 3 in each academic year.
